In many cases, there is no restriction on the list of matters that may be submitted to referendum either (Albania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Lithuania – where it is more a question of surveys -, Malta, Poland and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”). In Switzerland, cantonal law, which governs this area, generally adopts the same approach.
