At both local and regional levels, referendums can also be called by the authorities: in Croatia and Sweden, referendums can be called by municipal, town or regional assemblies; in France and Poland, by the deliberative assembly of each local or regional authority. In Switzerland, a number of cantonal laws provide for such referendums at various levels.
