The popular legislative initiative is less common. It exists in Lithuania, Russia and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”. Albania, Italy and Malta provide for abrogative legislative referendums, on the initiative of part of the electorate. This type of referendum may however terminate a statute’s validity, not lead to its adoption.
