Election day 

Elections to the European Parliament are held every fifth year.

The election day for elections to the European Parliament is the Sunday that coincides with the four-day period from Thursday to Sunday in June determined by the Council of the European Union. If the elections cannot be held in the Member States during the above-mentioned time period, the Council of the European Union determines another time period for the elections, in which case the election day is the Sunday included in this time period.
