It is true that term limits for MPs may have a positive effect as a corrective to inequalities which inevitably hinder challengers and aid incumbents and avoid the concept of irreplaceability in the political establishment; they may also avoid the concentration of power in the hands of a few professional politicians and foster more accurate representation and increased responsiveness of the elected representatives toward the electorate.
