Under Article 109.6 of the Constitution, a draft law may be submitted to the Parliament at the initiative of at least 50,000 voters. The Constitution further provides that if Parliament rejects the adoption of a draft law submitted by such popular initiative, the draft shall be put to referendum if 300,000 additional voters join the initiative within a period of sixty days following the rejection, and where the Constitutional Court recognises the given draft as complying with the Constitution (Article 204.1 of the Constitution).
