In the period from the day of accession of the Republic of Slovenia to the European Union to the beginning of the mandate of the European Parliament for the mandate period 2004-2009, the function of MEPs from the Republic of Slovenia shall be performed by seven deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia (hereinafter: "the National Assembly") appointed by the National Assembly.

 The National Assembly shall appoint seven deputies from the previous paragraph on the proposal of the commission competent for elections and nominations (hereinafter: "the Commission").
